Introduction
The Institute of Capital Civilization and Cultural Heritage, established in 2019, is a research institution under the Research Center of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development. It mainly relies on the first-level discipline of archaeology doctoral program and post doctoral research station. It is one of the main supporting institutions of the Yellow River Cultural Heritage laboratory. It aims to deeply investigate the ancient capital civilization in the Yellow River reaches, and is committed to the research on capital cities of Xia, Shang, and Zhou and the Northern Song Dynasty, and the conservation and utilization of cultural heritage. It is expected to provide strong academic support for carrying forward the Yellow River culture and traditional Chinese culture and formulating the national and local top-level design scheme.
The research team of the Institute has undertaken a number of national level projects, and published academic monographs such as "Research on the relationship between the Yellow River changes and the rise and fall of Kaifeng City", and published over 20 papers in authoritative professional journals and newspapers at home and abroad, including Science of The Total Environment, Journal of Coastal Research, Quaternary Science Reviews, Quaternary International, The Holocene, Archaeology, Jianghan Archaeology, Archaeology and Cultural Relics, People's Daily and Guangming Daily. These achievements have promoted the development of discipline of archaeology at Henan University, and played a positive role in the research on the Yellow River archaeology and cultural heritage.
