Introduction
Spatial Data Science and Watershed Computing Lab, as part of the Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development, was built in 2019. Its primary aims include: 1) developing novel statistical methods and software platform for better analyzing complex spatio-temporal data; 2) devising new methods for merging data with multiple space-time resolutions; 3) advancing state-of-the-art integrated assessment models to understand and quantify the complex dynamics and interactions between nature and human in watersheds.
Lab members have published monographs in a varied of fields such as spatial statistics, optimization, and integrated assessment models. In addition, the team has published more than 100 high-quality papers in international academic journals, including Annals of the American Association of Geographers, Geographical Analysis, International Journal of Geographical Information Science, Journal of Regional Science, Renewable Energy, Journal of Hydraulic Research, Science in China-Series E: Technological Sciences, Energy Policy, Environmental Pollution, and so on.
The lab has developed a set of novel spatial multi-level models and an open-source R package HSAR, advancing statistical tools to analyze spatial and spatio-temporal data. We have been closely collaborating with world-leading institutes such as Chicago University, University of Bristol, and University of Liverpool, in developing software platforms for spatial data analysis, modelling and optimization.
