On the afternoon of October 15, 2020, the inauguration ceremony of the Research Center of Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Chinese Civilization Succession and Development and the Symposium on the Study of Ancient Texts and Chinese Ancient Civilization was held in Conference Room 308 of the New Administration Building on Minglun Campus.
Professor Sun Junjian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Henan University and Vice President of Henan University, presented a plaque to Professor Wang Yunzhi, Director of the Research Center of Oracle Bone Inscriptions and Chinese Civilization Succession and Development. In his speech, Wang Yunzhi said that with rich academic resources and fine traditions, oracle bone studies are the advantageous disciplines of Henan University. The Research Center should further carry forward the fine learning style of Henan University's predecessors, and connect the study of Chinese characters and oracle bone resources with Xu Shen culture and Xu Shen spirit, so as to make Henan Province's oracle-bone studies, ancient texts studies and Chinese character studies better, bigger and stronger. President Sun Junjian emphasized that Henan University, which has the qualification, ability, example and foundation, must take the initiative in the field of oracle bone inscriptions and Chinese civilization succession and development, and build the Research Center into an inclusive platform for cultivating and gathering talents, as well as gathering the strength of other disciplines and professions to improve the function and influence.
