On the morning of November 5th, 2015, the 7th Annual High-End Forum of the Studies of Yellow River& Unearthed literature and the Yellow River Civilization International Symposium was held in the Zhongzhou International Hotel on the Jinming Campus of Henan University. This conference was organized by the Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development and The Collaborative & Innovative Center of Yellow River Civilization Inheritance and Modern Civilization Construction. More than 20 experts and scholars from universities, research institutes in Australia, South Korea, Taiwan and mainland China attended the conference. Baoming Zhang, the vice president of Henan University attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Changhong Miao, the Executive Director of The Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development, Henan University.
Baoming Zhang introduced the century history of Henan University and the founding process of The Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development. He said that with a long standing and profound culture, the Yellow River Civilization was a precious cultural asset of human society and occupied an important position in the history of world civilization. The study on the development of the Yellow River civilization and the sustainable development of the coastal regions is of great significance to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the continuous transmission of Chinese civilization. He hoped that all experts and scholars would not hesitate to enlighten them, provide guidance and help to promote the studies of Yellow River to a new level and promote better development of Henan University, and wished the conference a complete success.
Prof.He Yong San Xiang from Kyungsung University in Korea stated in his speech that the Yellow River Civilization was the most important civilization of Chinese Civilization. It could be said that we couldn't understand the Chinese civilization if we did not understand the Yellow River Civilization. He looked forward to more cooperation with Henan University and The Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development.
Prof. Lin Zhao from the Chinese Culture University in Taiwan used the Chinese idiom "Wu Hua Tian Bao"(Means a place with a variety of precious treasures) to describe Kaifeng and used the idiom “Ren Wen Hui Cui” (Means a place with galaxy of talent in history) to describe Henan University, expressing his praise and admiration for Kaifeng and Henan University. He also quoted the gestures of "longevity" and "prosperity" in aliens in "Star Trek" to bless the success of this conference. He wished that Henan University and The Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development would make constant progress.
Prof. Changhong Miao made a concluding speech. He said that the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation needs the support of civilization, while the Yellow River civilization plays the role of the mainstay. Therefore, we should join hands to work together to make contributions to China and human development. He introduced the plan that the research institute will organize the compilation of the "General History of the Yellow River Civilization" by domestic and foreign scholars to the experts and scholars, hoping that they will discuss in depth, and provide constructive suggestions to help us make the career of The Key Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development more better.
The conference included two thematic reports and three paper discussions. The papers were related to Oracle-bone Inscriptions, Bronze Inscriptions, Chu Bamboo Slips, Stone Inscription, and Chinese character theory, fully embodying the theme of the conference which is “Unearthed Literature and the Yellow River Civilization”. The participating experts made free speeches enclosing this conference, they also attached great importance to the cultivation of postgraduates in ancient languages, and proposed that we should strength academic cooperation and educational cooperation among universities.
