Abstract：The development of rural area is different from non-agricultural industry-oriented urban development, many factors affect the spatial structure of rural area, in addition to the freight, rent, gathering three basic elements, also have resource distribution and combination, topography and climate, social structure, and the relationship with the surrounding areas, and so on. These factors can be attributed to the difference of space interface and location. Henan is located in the transition zone from China's second step to the third step. The complexity and diversity of natural conditions, coupled with a long history of cultivation, a large population, the contradiction between farmers and land, and so on, these factors ultimately formed a diversified rural development environment. Based on this, the paper established the comprehensive evaluation index of the rural development by use of AHP, and analyzed the difference and spatial evolution of rural development at the county level in Henan Province from 1990 to 2013 with GIS and Geo DA software, combining with ESDA-GIS spatial analysis framework. The results were showed in the following aspects: 1) The level of rural development in Henan Province was gradually increased in recent 20 years. 2) The rural development in Henan at the county level had the significant positive correlation from 1990 to 2013, but the overall trend was downing. 3) The differences of the rural development were caused by the different spatial interfaces and locations.
